Our grape varieties are optimally suited to a west coast temperate climate. They are hand-tended in our certified organic vineyard. Our first harvest was in the Fall of 2008.
Several varieties of both white and red grapes are carefully nurtured in our certified organic vineyard. The wonderfully blended Estate wines are unique and special. Vineyard production is supplemented by grapes from the B.C. Interior. Used for the varietal wines, this supply enables distinct production within coastal B.C.
A versatile white wine grape from which a broad spectrum of wines is produced. These dry complex wines are variously described as buttery, creamy, nutty and smoky; their fruit descriptors include apple, lemon, melon and pineapple.
A Riesling-type vinifera from the Loire Valley in France . This early-ripening grape is a cross between Madeleine Royale and Précoce de Malingre grapes and grows well in cooler climates. Madeleine Angevine makes an attractive fruity wine with a flowery nose.
This cross of Gewurztraminer and Madeleine Angevine developed in Germany has incredible spice and floral aromas; with flavours of grapefruit, honey, spice, pears and apricots. An early ripener, this grape looks and tastes similar to Gewurztraminer. Descriptors include spice and lychee fruit aromas.

Imparts a luscious and unusual fruity flavour that is at the same time crisp and citrusy. The character of the wine is muscular, with or without oak fermentation. Dry, light-bodied and lightly fruity, with an occasional toasty quality. Pinot Gris is a wonderful summer wine because it is so versatile and pairs well with Northwest cuisine.
The low-acid, high-sugar Ortega grape produces wines with delightful floral characteristics and hints of peach in both aroma and flavour. Ortega has aromas of Muscat and peach.
This grape is high in sugars, so is suited to cooler climates. It is suitable for making both sparkling and still wines, and is a good blending variety.
Is most commonly used as a colour-enhancing blend wine. Agria's chief attributes are its dark colour, high vigour growth, cool climate friendly and ripens early with good sugar content.
Is found to have distinct berry aromas. Leon Millot typically produces structured Burgundy-like red wines with rich deep colour and round approachable tannins. It ripens with a nice sugar and moderate acid. Used for blending to add colour and deepen body.
The red grape that produces the spicy, rich, complex wine. Pinot Noirs go well with almost any food. A light body and fragrant wine.
Hardy, vigorous and productive, Zweigelt buds late and ripens early, which are very useful traits in the cool growing regions. Zweigelt can be counted on to consistently produce medium bodied reds that have a nice mix of currants, herbs and tannins.
Varietal characteristics of nectarine and white peach are found in this refreshing wine. Hints of rose petal. Very crisp and clean. The acidity will truly bring forth the varietal character. Try this crisp wine with strong cheeses, appetizers, salmon, pastas or seafood with cream sauces. Also pairs well with chicken.
2009 Bronze Medal Winner Wine Access 2009 Canadian Wine "The winery's tasting notes speak of nectarine and white peach flavours. My notes also speak of citrus and pear flavours. The bright acidity gives the wine a tangy, crisp finish. It is also dry. 87 points." ...John Schreiner, Wine Writer

This wine will not be available until May 19, 2012. It is developing as a soft varietal showing tropical fruits, like mango and papaya up front, followed by lychee nut and spice in the finish. Hints of grapefruit linger in this marvelous Gewurztraminer. Pairs well with fruit or cheese or a light lunch, with foods such as roast turkey or mild curries. Also works very well with spicy Asian food which can include seafood, chicken, pork, beef or vegetarian elements. A strong accompaniment with Sushi.
The third vintage of this increasingly popular blend is delightful. While the citrus notes remain, they take a back seat to the prominent pear on the nose and finish. The food pairings are endless. West coast seafoods/shellfish, chicken, pork or maybe the best choice of all – a warm patio. This vintage is a small release and will sell out soon. Don’t be disappointed.
This wine will not be available until May 19, 2012. It is the 4th vintage of our popular Estate White made entirely from Estate grown, Certified Organic grapes. Slightly sweeter than our first three vintages, this wine has exciting citrus, green apple, and orange peel overtones. Strong grapefruit nose and finish. Recommend pairing with non-spicy Chinese food, sweet and sour pork, lemon or orange chicken, pan fried sole with hollandaise/béarnaise sauce. Also delicious with crab, oysters, and asparagus.
The third release of this popular rosé has all the same award-winning characteristics of its predecessors. Dry and ready to pair as it has before. Once again, strawberry is prominent in the nose and finish. And once again, this fabulous rosé is ready to be enjoyed with warm summer days and all the fresh food that comes with the season. Serve slightly chilled.
This is the second vintage from our Estate grown Certified Organic Leon Millot and Zwiegelt grapes. Dense colour with prominent cherry and pepper flavours. This deftly balanced estate blend shows a fruity cassis nose with hints of coffee. It is richly coloured and will leave pepper and cherry on the palate. A versatile wine that will pair well with pastas and tomato sauces, pork, chicken and lamb dishes.
This is a non vintage version as we saw fit to blend the 2009 with the 2010 to create a wonderful Pinot with all the classic mineral and earthy notes you’d expect. And while our 2008 Pinot Noir garnered a Silver Medal at the Northwest Wine Summit (BC, Washington, Oregon), we have lofty expectations for this one as well. The blending was a bold stroke and has yielded a superb result. Similar to our Pinot Noir 2008 which sold out early. Appealing on the nose with earthy scents of black currant and spice. A delightful long finish with a lingering of plum. The soft tannins will ensure years of positive development. The layers of flavour found in this Pinot Noir make it wonderfully food flexible. Enjoy with a wide range of fish, poultry, pork and meat dishes.
Profound, rich and multi-dimensional. The nose is aromatically scented with vanilla, plum and cherry. Full bodied and long on the palate. Aged 12 months in new French oak. A great future is expected as this Merlot will mature to greater heights. This robust wine will be in delicious harmony with rich red meats including lamb and hearty stews.
2010 Bronze Medal Winner North West Wine Summit 2010
Dense and rich in colour and impossibly deep. Blackberry, plum and currant are powerful in their presence on the nose and approach. The finish is long and lingering and renders a hint of chocolate. We have watched and carefully checked the progress of this wine as we felt it would be a winner from the outset – it has exceeded our expectations. This wine is so drinkable now yet it will become magic in the bottle in a few years. And priced well below many comparable in quality. This will be a welcome addition to your fall and winter entertaining and a great expectation in your cellar.
Pronounced Shar-mell-a, this wine is a unique pairing of Certified Organic Chardonnay grapes and estate grown apples (mela in Italian). The apple trees are part of Salt Spring Island's heritage as the apple capital of B.C. in the early 1900’s. This wine will not be available until May 19, 2012. It is our third vintage and it is consistent with the quality and popularity of our first two, which sold out quickly. Serve slightly chilled to experience the flavours and pair with any dessert or after dinner cheese. Particularly delightful with Crème Brulee, fruit and cheese plate, or blue cheese.
Meet Leon Black. An inspired blend of blackberries and Leon Millot Grapes. Aromatic, fruit forward and richly layered. Serve slightly chilled with dessert or cheese for the perfect ending to your meal.
